Customs officers from the Narcotics Bureau conducted anti-drug operations in Tsuen Wan and Sha Tin yesterday (12) and arrested a 33-year-old foreign man and a 22-year-old Chinese man.
During the operation, the officers seized a total of 12 kilograms of drugs with a market value of about 8.3 million yuan, and also seized 5 mountain knives and a batch of drug packaging tools.

Mr He Mingwei, the senior investigator of the Narcotics Bureau of the Customs and Excise Department, pointed out that yesterday (12th) customs officers intercepted and searched a 33-year-old foreign man suspiciously at Luen Yan Street in Tsuen Wan. There were two packets of suspected cannabis in the plastic bag he was holding. The man was then taken to a nearby tenement house and searched and found a batch of suspected cannabis, heroin and drug packaging tools.
During the operation, a total of 9.5 kg of drugs were seized, including 6 kg of suspected cannabis and 3.5 kg of suspected heroin, with a market value of approximately 5.6 million yuan.
The arrested man was a tenant of a tenement house and reported that he was unemployed. Officers believed that he used the unit for drug packaging and storage.
In addition, officers conducted follow-up investigations on an earlier dangerous drug case. An anti-drug operation was carried out in the Western District yesterday afternoon. A 22-year-old man was intercepted for investigation. After verifying his identity, he was suspected to be related to the case and he was arrested.
Afterwards, officers searched a public housing unit in Sha Tin and seized 1.7 kilograms of suspected liquid cocaine, about 410 grams of suspected ketamine, about 5 grams of suspected crack cocaine, more than 60,000 Hong Kong dollars, 5 mountain knives and a batch of drug packaging tools. The drug market value is about 2.7 million yuan.
Initial investigations revealed that the arrested man had a triad background.
The two cases are still under investigation, and the two arrested men will be detained overnight for investigation.
He Mingwei pointed out that during the long holiday that has just passed, drug dealers will conduct more frequent drug trafficking activities. Customs will continue to conduct intelligence collection and analysis, focusing on combating drug trafficking activities.
According to the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, Chapter 134 of the Laws of Hong Kong, drug trafficking is a serious crime. Once convicted, the maximum penalty is a fine of 5 million yuan and life imprisonment.
