Washington - SANA
Today, the US House of Representatives approved by a majority of its members to impeach President Donald Trump on charges of inciting rebellion in storming Congress, in a move that would open the door to the Senate to prevent Trump from assuming the presidency again if convicted.
US media reported that 10 Republicans joined 222 Democrats, compared to 191 in the vote in favor of impeaching Trump, which paves the way for his trial in the Senate.
Trump thus becomes the first US president to face impeachment twice, as no US president has ever been removed from office through impeachment.
Trump's trial in the Senate is expected to begin after his term expires on January 20 and Biden will be installed as the 46th president of the United States.
