INTERVIEW - The president of the Île-de-France region believes that the government would become more efficient in its fight against the coronavirus by associating the regions. She denounces a political attitude of the Head of State.


LE FIGARO.- Since the start of the health crisis, the regions have been asking to be more involved by the State.

Was the message heard when the vaccination campaign started?

Valérie PÉCRESSE.- We are living in an ubiquitous situation!

After seeing the bankruptcy of the lonely state and its inability to organize the logistics of the vaccination campaign, we are witnessing a kind of about-face.

From now on, the regional health agencies (ARS) are shifting the entire burden of the campaign onto the mayors, who they ask to organize everything.

The elected officials find themselves totally destitute and turn to the region.

It's surreal.

We could have organized this vaccination campaign together, whereas today we find ourselves filling in the breaches of the ship.

I have been telling the government for two months: entrust the regions with the logistics of the vaccination campaign.

We are ready to help.
