I was sorry to hear of the passing of Sheldon Adelson, a Jew who loves his people, who loves Israel.
He was a great American patriot, who saw the establishment of the alliance between the State of Israel and the United States as a mission and a mission. Back in his life, the story of the newspaper salesman who became a successful businessman ignited the imagination of everyone around him. His determination and ability to identify opportunities, take risks, dare and perform Were one of his hallmarks.
Alongside his world-wide business, in recent decades Sheldon has harnessed his capabilities for influence in the public sphere.
It is difficult to name on one foot the many and varied philanthropic initiatives to which Sheldon contributed his fortune, most of which deepen the connection of the people of Israel to their land and heritage.
In great pain: Sheldon Adelson 1933-2021
From Yad Vashem, Taglit, Garin Zabar and the medical and academic projects, in all of these and other charitable activities, Sheldon contributed to encouraging the deep connection between Diaspora Jewry and the State of Israel.
The School of Entrepreneurship at the Interdisciplinary Center and the Faculty of Medicine at Ariel University, where we recently met at the inauguration, were an investment in the seeds of Israeli research, medicine and development.
The importance of establishing such an institution in the days that visit us cannot be overstated.
Generations of doctors and patients will thank the initiative even in the days that are still right for us, and we will all reap the fruits of the investment and faith that pulsated in Adelson regarding the need for a new and excellent medical school, which opened its doors to every Israeli and woman seeking opinion, especially in this place and these times.
Wherever there were no people, Sheldon "tried to be a man."
Invest in his fortune and time, be there, help and support.
Sheldon believed most in strengthening the strategic alliance between the State of Israel and the United States, and saw deepening ties between the two countries as the safest investment in the future of the Jewish people and the State of Israel.
My condolences to Miriam, the love of his life and partner in the path and important contribution he made to the building of the people and the land, and to the whole family.
Of blessed memory.
