Peru is experiencing a second wave of Covid-19 with a sharp increase in recent days in recorded cases of contamination, the Peruvian government said on Tuesday January 12.

Peru has seen a significant increase in the number of cases and the number of deaths linked to the coronavirus since mid-December.
The number of hospitalizations has risen sharply over the past five weeks, from around 3,800 to 6,800, according to official figures.
Likewise, the number of daily deaths has increased in recent weeks, dropping back above 50 deaths per day after falling below that figure.
Peru passed the one million case mark on December 22.
Peru is one of the countries in the region most affected by the pandemic, with more than 38,000 deaths and 1,037,350 contaminations as of Monday.
The government is severely criticized for failing to secure the purchase of vaccines.
He extended in November for 90 days, until early March, the state of health emergency.
