In the case of 12 Hong Kong people involved in smuggling, an 18-year-old boy was not charged and was transferred to the Hong Kong police at the end of last year.
He is still charged with conspiracy to endanger life and arson in Hong Kong. As he completed isolation, he was escorted to the District Court for interrogation today (14th). He is in good mental condition and even responded to his supporters before leaving the court.
His case was adjourned to be heard again on March 2 in order to be dealt with together with the defendant in the same case. The court confiscated his 3,000 yuan bail, during which he will continue to be remanded.
Accused of intent to set fire
The defendant, Liao Ziwen, was 17 years old when the case was launched and is now 18 years old. He was charged on September 30 of the previous year with a crime of conspiracy to endanger life and arson. The alternate charge is the crime of possession of objects with intent to destroy or damage property .
He was in good spirits at the hearing today and looked around from time to time. Before entering the detention room at the end of the hearing, he even responded to the supporters who were present to cheer him up.
The prosecution requested that the case be adjourned so that Liao’s case could be handled together with the other defendants. The defense did not apply for bail and did not make further submissions regarding the bail money.
The judge adjourned the case until March 2 and confiscated his 3,000 yuan bail.
Two defendants in the same case are serving sentences in the Mainland
Four other defendants were involved in the same case: Lego salesman Tang Tiran (30 years old), fashion designer Zheng Jin (31 years old), MTR technician trainee Cheng Zihao (17 years old), and chef Li Weilong (25 years old).
Deng Jiran and Zheng Zihao are also defendants in the 12-person smuggling case. They were sentenced to 3 years in prison, a fine of 20,000 yuan, and 7 months, and a fine of 10,000 yuan, respectively, for the crime of organizing others to cross the border and cross the border. People are still serving sentences in the Mainland.
