1.5 million euros in damage occurred in the major fire in a barn last Sunday in Taufkirchen.

In an interview with the Münchner Merkur, the affected couple of farmers told how things will go on for them now.

Taufkirchen

- On Sunday evening, Susi, the twelve-year-old miniature dachshund, felt an appetite.

"I had just prepared the dog food," Christa Klarer describes the moment at 5:22 pm.

“Suddenly the doorbell rings.” A young couple, actually on their way to the bus stop, rings the bell Christa Klarer (74) and her husband Ludwig (82) from the idyllic evening before: “It's burning with you!

Get out of the house immediately! "

A few days later.

Even in the snow outside, black spots darken the crisp white.

Soot remains from a night that the Klarer couple will not forget anytime soon.

The traces of the major fire in Taufkirchen are unmistakable, not just in the snow: charred rubble is lying around, but the adjacent house remained undamaged by the rapid intervention of the fire brigade.

Nobody was injured

The night of fire in Taufkirchen: How do those affected deal with the event?

Münchner Merkur visited the Klarers on their agricultural property in the Potzham district.

“The most important thing,” says Ludwig Klarer, “is that nobody was injured.

That was very important. "His wife Christa agrees:" We are doing well. "

The two married in 1979, and a year earlier Ludwig Klarer took over the farm, which has existed on Bergstrasse in Potzham since 1947.

Cattle used to be part of it, today the 82-year-old, who for decades (1972 to 2002) sat for the CSU on the municipal council, focuses on agriculture.

"And we also have a forest," adds his wife. "

The foundation walls survived the fire

Now some things, but not all, are in burned ruins.

“Nothing is missing from the tractor,” says Ludwig Klarer.

Nothing is left of the upper part of the barn, but the foundation walls survived the fire.

Even cars are still intact, as are agricultural implements.

And the tractor.

What, then, was the flames on the floor above?

“Boards, a planer, the circular saw.

Replacement tiles, ”says Ludwig KLarer.

A first inventory.

How did the fire break out?

“Woaß i ned.” A fire investigator is investigating.

According to the first statements by the police, a radiant heater is said to have been the cause of the fire.

The investigation is still ongoing.

Neighbors seal off the farmers

The memories of the fire night on Sunday evening, when 226 emergency services fought the flames for six and a half hours, are rather dry.

Because after the alarm was raised by the couple who happened to be passing by, the Klarers were immediately received by neighbors and sealed off.

"Suddenly everything was full of the fire brigade, police and emergency doctors," says Christa Klarer.

"We didn't see the really big fire."

Barn is to be rebuilt

The property damage, estimated at 1.5 million euros, is insured, the clean-up work is ongoing.

The question remains: what now?

The Klarers tend to rebuild the old barn, which was renovated a few years ago.

Maybe a bit smaller than before, but handsome: “It used to be the stable.

But it is important to us that the building has a face. ”An architect should come up with a suggestion for a visually appropriate reconstruction.

There is a lot more to do before then.

Taking care of things with the insurance companies, "that distracts me," says Christa Klarer.

She and her husband spent the night after the fire with a niece, another niece spontaneously helps: pushes a garbage can, the old one is burned.

Manageable problems.

Also that for a short time the power line was cut and "the television no longer works" because the satellite dish was torn down by the fire.

For Susi, the miniature dachshund lady who came for her food on Sunday evening, everything is ready again in the large eat-in kitchen: the bowl is full, and so everyone in the Klarer family is optimistic about the future.
