Lebanon began general lockdown measures today in an attempt to curb the high rates of record coronavirus infections.
Last Monday, the Supreme Defense Council in Lebanon declared a state of health emergency in the country, reduced passenger traffic at the airport to 20 percent, and imposed a curfew to counter the outbreak of the Corona virus, from the 14th to the 25th of this month.
Today, movement appeared to be limited in a number of Beirut's streets and suburbs, and commercial establishments, markets and most private companies closed their doors.
Infection cases increased during the past week by a large percentage, making Lebanon one of the countries currently witnessing one of the largest increases in the world in terms of infection, while the head of the Lebanese caretaker government, Hassan Diab, warned that Lebanon has entered a dangerous phase in terms of the outbreak of the virus.
