They hoped to hear these words, and justice spoke them.
Thursday, the public rapporteur of the administrative court of Paris, in his opinion, recognized that there is indeed a
"faulty failure of the State"
in the fight against climate change.
During this hearing, which constitutes a key step in a procedure started in 2018, the NGOs which are at the origin - Greenpeace France or the Nicolas Hulot Foundation - thus saw their accusations brought against the authorities of the country taken up by the magistrate.
"There is a fault of the State in not having respected its trajectory"
of reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, affirmed the latter during the trial which she qualified as
"the first major climate trial in France ”,
and whose judgment will be rendered shortly.
"There will be a before and an after this trial,"
welcomed Me Emmanuel Daoud, one of the defenders of NGOs, leaving the court.
