The Union of Syrian Plastic Artists elected members of its new executive office during its third general election conference held today under the title “The Plastic Artist is an essential bearer of society’s culture and its intellectual and civilizational structure” at the Caesar Palace Hotel in Damascus.

After voting by the members of the conference, the results of the elections came according to the order of the total number of votes, as follows: “Ghassan Saeed Saeed… Yunus Suleiman Nasif… Hussein Majed Saqour… Usama Yusef Amasha… Heba Muhammad Saeed… Fadi Jumah al-Faraj al-Ankawi .. Muhammad Irfan Izzat Abu Al-Shamat ... Lina Habib Deeb ... Mario Youssef Ghassan ... Ghanem Nasser Obaid. "

The members of the conference discussed the union’s role in the development of plastic art and the means to achieve the advancement of the artistic movement affected by the war on Syria and the unfair sanctions to play its required role in building the Syrian cultural and civilizational identity.

Union President Dr. Ihsan Al-Arr explained in his speech that Syrian plastic artists will remain advocates of goodness carrying the message of beauty along with all segments of society to paint hope in colors of joy with responsibility and faith in Syria's victory in the terrorist war against it.

In his turn, Secretary General of the Formative Union for the last session, Yusef Nasser, stated in a statement to SANA that the electoral session is held once every 5 years, and the members of the branches' councils and the members who complete from each governorate, who are 123 plastic artists, participate in it.

Secretary of the Plastic Artists Union branch in Tartous, plastic artist Nahla Kashour called on the new executive office to expand its support for plastic art in all governorates and to convey the artists' concerns and help them display and promote their work and reconsider the issue of retirement and health insurance, which is one of the main issues for the artist, while the plastic artist called Ghassan Ghanem, from the Quneitra branch, members of the new executive office, to pay more attention to plastic artists in the governorates, to expand activities for them, and to create galleries to display and promote their paintings.

Plastic artist Waddah Salama called for reconsidering the rights of artists and securing their requirements by creating ceremonies, halls and workplaces. The plastic artist, Fawaz Kardish Al-Maarawi from the Hama branch, pointed out the importance of holding this conference, which aims to secure the requirements of plastic artists and overcome difficulties, especially in the branches, wishing to take care of them considering that art is Country identity.

The election conference was attended by Eng. Hoda Al-Homsi, member of the Central Command of the Arab Socialist Baath Party, head of the Office of Popular Organizations and Professional Syndicates, Hussam Al-Samman, Radwan Mustafa, Secretary of the Damascus and its countryside branches of the Baath Party, Dr. Ghayath Qatini, head of the Engineers Syndicate, Assistant Minister of Culture Tawfiq Al-Imam, and a group of plastic artists.

It is noteworthy that the Union of Plastic Artists in Syria was newer with the aim of sponsoring plastic artists and working to develop their artistic output, highlighting the moral value of the artist and enriching the plastic artwork as an alternative to the Fine Arts Syndicate that was established in 1969 as a popular organization to take care of the organizational affairs of artists, take care of their interests, and participate in artistic activity and development.
