Emmanuel Macron also wished that the subjects of pricing and the strengthening of school medicine be discussed during these meetings.
The Head of State also approved the launch in the spring of a national survey on the mental health of young people and children, which will be conducted by Public Health France.
The specialists told him of the continuous rise in the number of children suffering from disorders in recent years.
The crisis and the confinements worsened the situation, resulting in massive increases in hospitalizations for mood disorders, eating disorders or even anxious behavior, with increases ranging from 50% to more than 100% compared to 2019. Suicide attempts by young people under 16 have also increased.
Adolescents and students are particularly affected by this deterioration in mental health.
At the beginning of December, four renowned psychiatrists and a psychoanalyst called on the government to “
take action
” urgently so that all French people who need it can access psychiatric care, while the health crisis increases the needs.
