German GDP plunged 5% in 2020, its worst contraction since the financial crisis of 2009, after a year marked by the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, according to provisional official data released on Thursday.

The German economy has entered a deep recession, after a decade of growth,
" commented the statistical institute Destatis.
However, the indicator is doing better than the government's forecasts, which forecast a drop of 5.5%.
