Within the Town Hall, Jacques Chirac's official apartment is no more than a memory, almost picturesque.
Vast of 1200 m2 and overlooking a garden at the corner of the rue Lobau and the quai de la Seine, it was erased by Bertrand Delanoë in 2001. Many have said that a crèche had been installed there.
In fact, the children were welcomed on the floor below.
But the idea was to break with the pomp.
Lounges have been preserved - the mayor's lunches are organized there - others have been transformed into offices.
In one of them, Anne Hidalgo has just installed a bedroom and a bathroom.
A very private space.
"This room in which you can sleep is not intended only for the mayor of Paris"
, explains a relative, denying any rebirth of a company apartment.
He maintains that the mayor has
"never slept there"
.
"It is a permanent apartment, like one finds one at the Elysee or in Matignon"
, he explains, satisfied with his find.
