Rail traffic had to be interrupted in both directions Tuesday, January 12 at Chantilly station, in the Oise, because a deer, pursued by hunters and their dogs, had taken refuge on the rails.
The interventions of a veterinarian and the police were necessary to evacuate him, reports

Seeing the direction it was taking, the crew called the dogs back but a few followed the animal to the station.
The dogs were recovered and then the gendarmerie took over because we can no longer intervene when the animal is in an urban area
”, explained the communication manager for the venery in Picardy.
This explanation is denied by the AVA collective, which opposes the practice of hunting with hounds.
In a video published on AVA's Twitter account, we see the exhausted deer running in the parking lot of the station and then on the rails, pursued by a pack of dogs and armed hunters.

After spotting the animal on the tracks, the SNCF decided to stop traffic between Paris and Chantilly in both directions of traffic.
The gendarmerie, helped by a veterinarian, then opted for the deer to fall asleep in order to evacuate it.
Isabelle Wojtowiez, the mayor of Chantilly confirmed the evacuation of the animal and was indignant on her Facebook account: “
What happened this afternoon is unspeakable.
If the forest is a shared space and hunting is permitted there, under no circumstances can an animal be hunted down to the city center
”.
She undertakes to "
take the necessary decisions so that this sad spectacle never happens again in our city
".
SNCF would consider filing a complaint for the inconvenience caused.
