All over Bavaria people are calling for the carnival holidays to be reintroduced.
Two schoolgirls from Augsburg started a petition with several thousand supporters.
Augsburg
- distance lessons, contact restrictions and then also the cancellation of the
carnival
holidays
.
Two students from Augsburg * have enough now.
You have now
requested
an
online petition
to reinstate the holidays.
They almost have the necessary 50,000 supporters.
But not only in Augsburg there is strong opposition to the deletion.
Corona: Schoolgirls from Augsburg are demanding back carnival holidays
Mia and Hannah are attending tenth grade at a
grammar school in Augsburg
.
Like many other students in Bavaria, the 16-year-old girls do not have easy coping with the Corona * -related challenges in everyday school life.
Since the end of the winter holidays, only
distance classes have
taken
place in the Free State
.
According to Hannah, this is even more exhausting than
face-to-face teaching with a mask
.
“We sometimes have video conferences from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the day.” Then the girls still have to do their homework.
And probably nothing will change in this situation by the end of January.
If the Corona * numbers do not go down, an extension of the
distance lesson
cannot be ruled out.
The two tenth graders were hit particularly hard when the Minister of Culture
Michael Piazolo
(Free Voters) announced that the
carnival
holidays would be canceled
this year
.
The additional time should be used to catch up on the missed material.
"How should nine months of school material be made up in this one week?" Says Hannah.
Much more important is a week of recovery from the stress of learning, say the two 16-year-olds.
Above all, the students in the
final year
need the free time to study for their exams.
Corona: Distance teaching has psychological consequences for students
The
carnival holidays
are also necessary to alleviate the psychological consequences for students from the
corona exposure
.
“There are people in my circle of acquaintances who suffer a lot from the consequences of home schooling.
Which
shows up
in
depression
, among other things
, ”says Hannah.
With their
petition
on avaaz.org they now want to collect enough supporters to cause a rethink in the Ministry of Culture.
You are aiming for 50,000 signatories and are now more than half that mark.
Child is still not over the canceled carnival vacation and said while falling asleep: “I'll write a letter to Markus Söder.” And yes, dear @Markus_Soeder, she says it's like canceling a week's vacation for adults.

Numerous students and parents across the country follow the example of the two students from Augsburg *.
A total of
over 75,000 signatures have already been collected
in various
petitions
.
The
teachers' union GEW
has also started an
online petition
.
17,000 people have already signed here.
"One week of additional lessons, whether at a distance or in presence, can no longer hide the fact that this school year is not a normal school year," said the
GEW
.
"Instead of canceling holidays, exams and transfers should be adjusted."

In the Upper Bavarian district of Dachau there is also lively resistance to the cancellation of the carnival holidays.
Many parents do not understand this.
