Former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi says he is in "good health" after being hospitalized in Monaco with heart problems.
“Because of my doctors' caution, I had to go to the hospital for a few checks.
My activities will continue as usual, in close contact with my staff during this very difficult time for the country, ”he said in a statement.
The vice-boss of Berlusconi's conservative Forza Italia, Antonio Tajani, had confirmed on television that the 84-year-old had to be hospitalized.
The Ansa news agency wrote that Berlusconi had been hospitalized in Monaco.
She referred to his doctor Alberto Zangrillo, who examined Berlusconi on Monday.
Because of cardiac arrhythmias, he strongly recommended that the head of the opposition Forza Italia go to the hospital there.
Berlusconi owns a house near the French city of Nice, where he temporarily lives.
According to the party, Berlusconi could soon be home again.
The party founder had an artificial heart valve in June 2016 and then repeatedly struggled with health problems.
He was most recently hospitalized last September after contracting the coronavirus.
