A historic listed building in the heart of the district town that has almost fallen into ruins appears to have been saved.

An investor wants to let the Kubel villa on the corner of Feuerhausstrasse and Stadelbergerstrasse shine in new splendor in the foreseeable future.

The renovation work has already started.

Fürstenfeldbruck

- The two-storey hipped roof house with a small south bay window is almost 120 years old.

It is one of the other, already restored artist villas in the vicinity that date back to the turn of the century.

The outline of a studio window can still be seen in the gable on the north side.

The painter Otto Kubel, who died in 1951 and to whom a street from the villa location is dedicated, worked in the villa on the corner of Feuerhausstrasse and Stadelbergerstrasse from 1902 to 1907.

He maintained his studio in the attic - probably from 1902 to 1907.

His apartment was only two houses away at Feuerhausstrasse 22,

From 1907 Kubel shared a studio with his friend, artist Eugen von Ruckteschell, in his large villa at 63 Dachauer Strasse. Otto Kubel made a name for himself primarily as a fairy tale and school book illustrator.

Among other things, he drew the fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm.

He also painted sunny landscapes and interiors.

Since the death of the last owner, who left no heirs, the Kubel villa has fallen into disrepair from year to year.

Traces of repairs can be seen on the corners of the house after cars had driven against them.

The building is located directly at the junction that was last discussed because of its many car crashes.

Despite the monument protection, some garden fence pillars from the construction period are said to have been replaced years ago without authorization.

Part of the artist villas project

The Kubel Villa is one of around 100 buildings in Fürstenfeldbruck and Emmering that were mapped by the city eight years ago as part of the “Kulturstadt Künstlervillen” project.

In the vicinity between Adolf-Kolpingstrasse and Stadelbergerstrasse, several houses belonging to this category were renovated and refurbished.

Which is why Klaus Wollenberg (FDP), who is responsible for culture in the Fürstenfeldbruck City Council, is now interested in the construction work and wants to contact the new owner.

He did not want to comment on his plans to the Brucker Tagblatt.

However, he emphasized that the work would be carried out in close coordination with the Office for Monument Protection.
