After the House of Representatives voted last night (Wednesday) in favor of ousting outgoing President Donald Trump following the onslaught of his supporters on Capitol Hill, the trial is set to take place in the Senate.

This is what the near future should look like.

When and how will the trial be conducted?

Officially, after the vote for the dismissal clause on incitement to insurrection, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is due to send him to the Senate. Before the end of the outgoing administration and his own tenure,

to date, three impeachment trials have taken place in the Senate, their most recent being Trump himself, who is the first president ever to be ousted twice by the House of Representatives, unlike the previous three. And hearings in previous cases.Democrats believed that the fact that the incident was documented from every angle and the presence of most members of Congress at the scene during the onslaught.

What are the chances of a conviction?

Unlike the House of Representatives, where a simple majority is required, the Senate needs the support of two-thirds - 67 senators - to convict a president.

That never happened, and in Trump's first trial of Ukraine-Gate only one Republican supported the move - Sen. Mitt Romney.

The numbers this time are unclear.

While Democrats will hold a majority starting Jan. 20, they need the fingers of another 17 Republican senators.

The New York Times reports that there are about 20 Republican senators who tend to support it, but it is far from certain that they will vote in favor.

All eyes are on McConnell's public statement on the matter, who reportedly said in closed-door talks that he believes Trump has committed offenses punishable by dismissal.

What does the sentence mean if Trump is no longer in office?

Democrats hoped to oust Trump even before the end of his term.

However, after Vice President Mike Pence refused to use an amendment to the constitution that allows a president to be imprisoned if he is unfit for office and McConnell's refusal to advance the Senate convening, the option remains to hold the trial after Trump becomes a citizen.

The goal of Trump's opponents is to convict him in the Senate in order to prevent any possibility of him running again in 2024, as has been hinted at since losing the November election.

If convicted in the Senate trial, lawmakers could pass a resolution banning Trump from holding any public office in the future with the help of a simple majority.

What did Trump say in response to the impeachment?

The outgoing president has been cut off from social media since the weekend, and in recent days he has repeatedly repeated his condemnation of violence and riots in the Capitol, but refused to take responsibility for his remarks that inflamed the crowd.

After the vote in the House of Representatives, he posted a video in which he did not address the impeachment process against him, but went out again against the violence.

Will Biden have a role in the trial?

No.

The president-elect has no say in the Senate, but he has urged lawmakers to make time for other burning issues as well.

The Senate needs to approve its candidates for cabinet positions and discuss a new package of incentives he wants to pass in favor of aiding civilians affected by the corona plague.
