, with 232 votes in favor (a dozen of them, Republicans) compared to 197 against, the National Guard guarded the corridors through which the past 6 January was the attack on the Capitol.
The troops who had to rest, due to lack of space, have had to lie down on their own backpacks on the marble floors of the institution. Some journalists, such as New York Times reporter Emily Cochrane, have reported that they have been seen having lunch in the Capitol cafeteria, playing cards or taking photos in the building.
