A fire broke out in Sham Shui Po.

At about 5 o'clock in the early morning of today (16th), a low-rise unit at No. 35-37 Alia Street near a tenement building on Maple Street suddenly caught fire. The fire was very violent. The tongue of the fire spouted out of the window and a lot of thick smoke was emitted.

A large number of residents woke up from their sleep and called the police for help. Dozens of people fled to the ground to take shelter.

The firefighter arrived at the report and used 2 breathing apparatus teams and 1 jet to fight the blaze. The fire was put out after about 22 minutes.

According to sources, at least 7 people were injured in the fire, including several children, of which 2 women and 1 child need to be sent to hospital for treatment.

The fire department is investigating the cause of the fire.
