The boss of the Bayreuth brewery Gebrüder Maisel, Oscar Maisel, is dead. The entrepreneur died last Saturday at the age of 90, shortly after the death of his wife Louise.

died at the age of 90,
as the family business confirmed on Friday.

reported his death on January 9th.
At the same time, the company says goodbye to Oscar's wife Louise Maisel, who died shortly before her husband.
Oscar Maisel and his brother Hans built the brewery after the war into a company with an international reputation.
The brothers laid the foundation for their success in 1955 with the introduction of “
Champagner-Weizen
”, which later became
known outside of Germany
as “
Maisel's Weisse
” Hefeweizen.
"Oscar Maisel knew crystal clear wheat beer from his student days in
Weihenstephan
and loved this brew," says the brewery's website.
Oscar Maisel led the family business for a total of 45 years.
The entrepreneur was "to be found daily in his brewery until the first lockdown in March 2020", according to an obituary from the company.
His son Jeff now runs the traditional brewery and his daughter lives in America.
