A vast network of drug trafficking linked to Spain and the Netherlands was dismantled on January 8 in the Valenciennes sector in the North, many weapons seized and eight people indicted, announced on Friday January 15 the Lille prosecutor's office.

This investigation carried out by the Interregional Specialized Jurisdiction (Jirs) of Lille was based on interceptions made on the encroChat encrypted communications network, used by criminal groups, which the French and Dutch judicial and police authorities had announced in July 2020 to have infiltrated and dismantled.
The placing under surveillance of several suspects made it possible to anticipate the return of a "
go fast
" transporting narcotics from Spain and then to launch a vast operation in the town of Raismes, near Valenciennes, explained the prosecutor of the Republic of Lille, Carole Etienne, in a press release.
This operation mobilized 170 soldiers of the gendarmerie, including five dog teams dedicated to the search for narcotics, weapons and banknotes, and made it possible to seize 56 kg of cannabis herb and resin, 400 feet of cannabis , 68 weapons including about thirty weapons of war and handguns, several thousand ammunition and 120,000 euros of criminal assets, details Etienne.
Of the eight people indicted, six were imprisoned and two placed under judicial supervision.
