Next Sunday, the second Syrian Honey Festival will be launched in the Al-Galaa Sports City in Damascus, which will continue until the twenty-second of this month.
The festival, which is held by the Arab Beekeepers Union, “Syria Trust” under the title “Honey .. Food, Medicine and Cure” includes Syrian beekeepers' products from honey that are quality-assured and subject to analysis, in addition to production requirements, beehives, and the medical and food industries of materials produced by bees.
President of the Arab Beekeepers Union in Syria, Engineer Iyad Daaboul, stated in a statement to SANA that holding the festival again comes after the success it achieved in its first session, especially that it is the first of its kind in Syria, where he succeeded in linking pure bee producers with consumers directly and blocking the way to honey promoters Adulterated.
In turn, the union’s director, Engineer Fattouh Jumaa, explained that the exhibition will include a number of beneficiaries of the projects implemented by the “Syria Trust” for the Arab Beekeepers Union in cooperation with international organizations, who are a number of war wounded and distinguished beneficiaries.
According to Jumaa, the festival aims to discover the world of bees and honey and create a direct communication channel between the seller and the consumer, increase awareness of the importance of bees and their products, and support small and medium enterprises working in the field of beekeeping and related professions.
The number of beehives in Syria currently stands at 350,000, and the current number is still less than the numbers that were available before the terrorist war, which at that time reached 600,000.
It is noteworthy that the first session of the Syrian Honey Festival was held on October 24, 2019, with the participation of 42 Syrian beekeepers, and the festival witnessed a large number of visitors.
