It snowed more than expected and it's not quite over.
Météo France maintains this Friday eight departments of the North and North-East in orange vigilance (level 3 out of 4) because of snow and ice.
The Ardennes, Meurthe-et-Moselle, Meuse, Moselle, Bas-Rhin, Haut-Rhin, Vosges and the Territoire de Belfort are concerned.
In addition, a large part of the country is in yellow vigilance (level 2 out of 4) due to snow and ice.
Pas-de-Calais remains in orange vigilance because of flooding due to accumulated precipitation.
Vigicrues, the body in charge of monitoring the level of watercourses, specifies that “the level of damaging overflows has been exceeded on several sections (Hem, Lawe - Clarence upstream, Lys Amont and Canche).
On the other hand, orange vigilance has been lifted on the AA and the Liana ”.

Regarding snow and ice, Météo France warns that "it will be necessary to wait until the beginning of the afternoon to see the last snowflakes leave the south of Alsace and the Territoire-de-Belfort".

This Friday morning, “we noted 5 cm to 10 cm over the north of the Ardennes, the Meuse and a large part of the Meurthe-et-Moselle.
In Moselle 10 cm to 20 cm are observed, locally more than 25 cm in the Phalsbourg sector.
In the Bas-Rhin we often find a layer of snow of 15 cm to 20 cm, locally more in Alsace Bossue and on the Alsatian piedmont of the Vosges ”.
Be careful on the roads due to freezing
“It is the Haut-Rhin which is the most affected by this snowfall with observed quantities ranging from 15 cm to 25 cm, locally more than 30 cm in the Alsatian valleys which penetrate into the Vosges massif, with damage caused to trees by the weight of snow ”.
#Snow was abundant as far as the plains in the #NordEast with up to 29cm in Phalsbourg, 22cm in #Strasbourg, 19cm in #Colmar and 11cm in #Metz.

This is the most abundant snow disturbance for ten years in the region.
Snow levels that have become unusual are thus noted in cities such as Strasbourg (Bas-Rhin) or Colmar (Haut-Rhin).
In Alsace and in the north-east of Lorraine, this snowfall is the most important since December 2010. We can locally observe more than 20 cm in the Alsace plain and up to 29 cm in Phalsbourg in Moselle.

The meteorological body warns of the risk of freezing on wet roads once the snowfall is over.
These weather conditions have consequences for transport.
Many roads are cut or traffic is limited, especially for heavy goods vehicles.
France bleu evokes, among other things, the area between Metz and Luxembourg.
But it is the entire region affected by snowfall that is affected.
In several departments, school transport is therefore not provided.
Train traffic is also experiencing disruptions, particularly between Alsace and Switzerland.
Some are deleted.
Delays are recorded, generally less than an hour, but a Colmar-Strasbourg, for example, must have been around 3 hours late.

Finally, power cuts are linked to this winter weather.
At least 12,000 homes are without electricity in Alsace.
According to France Bleu, this power failure concerns the valleys of Munster, Guebwiller, Masevaux and Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines, Sundgau and the areas of Wittisheim and Mussig.
The conditions of intervention since yesterday for the technicians of Enedis, in charge of network management, are complicated because of the accumulations of snow.
