A 47-year-old Corona patient died today (Saturday) at Ichilov Hospital in Tel Aviv after the respirator to which he was connected was disconnected.

The man suffered from many background illnesses, and was hospitalized in the Corona Intensive Care Unit in critical condition.

His condition deteriorated during the afternoon to a state of initial resuscitation and despite the efforts of the doctors he died a few hours later.

According to the hospital, the medical staff did not notice the malfunction due to the heavy workload in the ward.

A preliminary investigation conducted during the Sabbath by the hospital management revealed that the respirator tube had been torn out of place without the staff recognizing it in time but only after a few minutes.

Hospital management has opened an investigation of the unusual incident and will draw the necessary conclusions.
