Gitana Team announced this Saturday the disappearance of Benjamin de Rothschild following a heart attack at his home in Pregny (Switzerland) on Friday, at the age of 57.
In 2000, the son of Edmond and Nadine de Rothschild founded Gitana Team, a sailing racing team that has taken part in the most prestigious events: victory on the Route du Rhum, the English Transat, the Rolex Fastnet Race, the Transat Jacques Vabre.
This disappearance comes in the midst of a world sailing record attempt, the Jules Verne Trophy, with the Maxi Edmond de Rothschild.
