An earthquake measuring 3.5 degrees on the Richter scale occurred today in the city of Oran, northwest of Algeria.
The Algerian News Agency quoted the National Center for Research in Astronomy and Astrophysics in Algeria as saying that the epicenter of the earthquake is located in an area 10 km north of Oran.
The tremor caused the roof of a room to fall and cracks in an old building in the Pilar district in central Oran, without any casualties reported.
Last year, Algeria witnessed 4 earthquakes that struck provinces in the east and west of the country, with intensity ranging between 3 and 4 degrees on the Richter scale.
