The leaders of the French Council of Muslim Worship (CFCM) announced on Saturday January 16 that they had reached an agreement on a "
charter of principles
" of Islam in France which notably reaffirms gender equality and the "
compatibility
" of faith Muslim with the Republic.
This charter, at the origin of a crisis within the CFCM, was presented on Saturday to the Minister of the Interior Gerald Darmanin who hailed a "
very significant advance
". It must now be approved by all the federations of the CFCM before being sent to President Emmanuel Macron, the body said in a press release.
