Dozens of cities across France witnessed today the organization of mass rallies and demonstrations denouncing the "comprehensive security" law, which imposes restrictions on freedoms and prevents the display of violations committed by the French police.
French media reported that protesters marched in the streets of a number of cities and towns despite the curfew imposed by the French government, chanting slogans denouncing the "comprehensive security" law and calling for its withdrawal.
The Comprehensive Security Law sparked a wave of protests in French cities late last year, which the French security forces met with repression, using various methods, in addition to dozens of arrests.
UN rapporteurs confirmed last December that the "comprehensive security" bill is inconsistent with international human rights law, referring in particular to its authorization of the use of surveillance drones in the name of security and combating terrorism, particularly against demonstrators.
