2021-01-16T18:25:55.515Z

The producing company, Nestlé Prepared Foods, received four consumer complaints about the presence of foreign material in Hot Pockets and one report of a "minor oral injury" associated with consumption of the product.

Nestlé Prepared Foods is recalling more than 762,000 pounds (about 345 tons) of Hot Pockets, the Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service reported on Friday.

The decision is due to the fact that the product, which consists of frozen filled sandwiches and was shipped to retail stores across the country, "

may be contaminated with foreign materials, specifically pieces of glass and hard plastic

," the department added.

The problem was discovered after the company received four consumer complaints about the presence of foreign material in the Hot Pockets.

The company received a report of a "minor oral injury" associated with the consumption of the product.
