Israel Meir Lau, the former chief rabbi of Israel, was ousted as positive for Corona last weekend, after recently receiving the second dose of the vaccine against the virus.

Lau, 83, served as Israel's chief rabbi from 1993 to 2003.

He currently serves as his son, David Lau.

According to associates of the former chief rabbi, he is feeling well and has no symptoms of the disease.

The rabbi's wife underwent a test to detect the virus on the day her husband received the second dose of the vaccine, and was diagnosed as positive for Corona.

Subsequently, the rabbi was also tested and found to be infected with the virus.

According to the rabbi's grandson, Yedidya Lau, the rabbi contracted from his wife, who was herself exposed to a verified patient earlier this week.

Grandfather, Rabbi Yisrael Meir Lau Shlita, was diagnosed as positive for Corona this weekend, after the second vaccination, and B.H. feels excellent at home with no symptoms.

According to the Ministry of Health, the rabbi, who was vaccinated last month, was the first ultra-Orthodox in Israel to take the vaccine.

After leaving the hospital where he was vaccinated, he gave an interview to the Ministry of Health information line.

“We are His messengers (of Gd, HG) who fulfill the mission entrusted to us.

"God has brought us the great chance of recovery and coming out of danger. So far we have sacrificed more than 3,000 sacrifices on the altar of this hidden enemy."

Rabbi Lau called on the masses to get vaccinated and ignore the fears: "The Torah says 'and the healer will heal', such permission becomes obligatory. As long as there was no cure, we had to keep the instructions in 'Do not do it' - we did not always follow this properly. "Which is not political and we examined in depth and gave approval for the vaccine and determined that beyond any doubt it can cure, the concerns should be ignored as a commandment and a cure will cure, especially when they are anonymous, and treat the anonymous doctors who explain that it should be taken."
