As part of the trend towards relying on alternative energy for street lighting, Damascus Governorate has installed solar-powered lighting devices in the Al-Shaghour Al-Jawani neighborhood.

35 solar-powered lighting devices that the Governorate's Local Development Office, in cooperation with the Local Development Committee in Al-Shaghour Al-Jawani neighborhood, installed them in the streets of Bab Al-Hadid, Al-Sadiya, Al-Yagushiya, Al-Khudayriyah, Zaq Al-Burghul and Nazlat Al-Shamameen, in addition to the Children's Activities Center in the neighborhood, according to the director of the office, Engineer Areej Mashi, in a statement to the representative of SANA today, confirming the importance Investment of renewable energies that contribute to providing electricity and obtaining lighting at no cost.

Mashi indicated that the committee also carried out rehabilitation work in the neighborhood, planting it with trees, cleaning the repair shelter, rehabilitating the infrastructure, painting works, planting fruit trees and decorations in Hassan El Kharrat Street, and cleaning the ancient Iron Gate.

Machi explained that a 65-meter-wide building has been rehabilitated and equipped to be a center for children's activities that receives children from the age of 3 to five years in the morning from eight to two in the afternoon.
