German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas has warned that outgoing US President Donald Trump remains dangerous as he could not stand his defeat in the presidential election.
In an interview with the German newspaper Bild, Maas said: “Trump did not understand the rules of democracy and did not accept them, and he will continue telling the story of lies about his victory in the presidential elections, and he will try to incite many of his followers with his fake news.”
Regarding the Trump supporters' storming of Congress, Maas said: "Trump is the instigator behind the Capitol attack, and things must be clearly named after them. People have been misled by lies and conspiracy theories."
Last Wednesday, the US House of Representatives agreed by a majority of its members to hold Trump accountable for incitement to rebellion in storming Congress, in a move that would open the door to the Senate to prevent him from assuming the presidency again if convicted.
