After the criticism of reacting too slowly to violations of the corona rules, the Munich district office has now formed a special unit.

District

- Violations of the mask requirement, contact restrictions, the general exit restriction and the nightly curfew: Around 1300 reports in which the Bavarian Infection Protection Measures Ordinance is said to have been disregarded in the course of the corona pandemic have not yet been processed by the Munich district office (we reported) .

The district office is now reacting to the public criticism of being too lax and too slow in punishing the corona violations: with a special unit.

A spokeswoman for the district office admitted on Sunday that the pace was not right and that the processing of the ads was "too slow".

That is now about to change: "In a special unit, personnel have been bundled in order to bring all procedures to a conclusion as quickly as possible." This procedure was determined by the district office together with the Munich police headquarters.

1300 of 1700 advertisements have not yet been processed

Only in eleven of the 1700 reports, most of which come from the police, have fines been issued to date, around 400 proceedings had to be discontinued for legal reasons.

Around 1,300 cases are still open - the new special unit is now supposed to take care of them "to ensure the fastest and most consistent resolution possible".

It should be noted that in many cases the mandatory hearing has already been carried out;

it is a prerequisite for further fine proceedings.

"It is not a good signal if violations of the Corona rules are not punished quickly and consistently, but the long period for decree is used," says District Administrator Christoph Göbel.

"Because an immediate reaction serves as a deterrent and thus also the confirmation of law-abiding citizens who adhere to all the rules."

The limitation period is three years

The peculiarity should now act more quickly against corona sinners.

And nobody should believe they will get away with it, says a press release: “The limitation period is three years.

There is no risk of being prosecuted for not one single violation due to a time limit. ”On the contrary,“ every single advertisement is carefully checked ”.

District Administrator Göbel also emphasizes: "Despite the need to systematically prosecute violations, which I fully recognize and support, we should not forget that all of our efforts must primarily serve the immediate fight against the virus." Munich is a big team "every day and without any compromises".

“On that,” said Göbel, “people can rely.” And now, in addition, the quick punishment of non-compliance with the corona rules.

From this Monday, the obligation to wear an FFP2 mask applies in public transport and when shopping.

Unless everyone obeys the rules, the work for the new special unit is likely to be more than less.
