In Dachau, the first were vaccinated with the second dose of the corona vaccine on Sunday.

There are still problems, but also good news.

Dachau

- Horst Oschmann came to the Dachau vaccination center in a good mood on Sunday.

The 91-year-old was the first Dachau district citizen to receive the corona vaccination three weeks ago (we reported).

Yesterday he was supposed to go to the second vaccination round together with 20 other eligible persons.

"I'm doing very well", he emphasized, "no problems" he had after the first prick.

In view of the fact that as a young man he still witnessed how "all sorts of infectious diseases", and above all polio, plunged thousands of families into misery, it was always clear to him: "Of course I'll get vaccinated!"

Gertraud and Dieter Hentzschel, 82 and 81 years old, also assured that they never hesitated.

Okay, they were a bit tired after the first vaccination on December 27th, but how does that compare to the permanent lockdown?

“We just want to get out again at some point and live normality,” said the Dachau couple.

The younger ones should also register!

Registration for the corona vaccination is possible online at www.impfzentren.bayern.

There you get a confirmation and later an email with suggested dates.

Appointments are assigned according to priority.

This means that if a 25-year-old registers today, but a 65-year-old doesn't register for a week, the latter will still have a chance before the younger one.

Citizens without internet access can still register by phone at 116 117.

If you need help with registration and have no younger, online-savvy relatives, you can also contact your family doctor or pharmacist.

The pharmacist Maximilian Lernbecher is promoting registration as soon as possible, because: "The worst thing would be if we had the vaccine sometime in the summer and then nobody wanted to be vaccinated again."

But younger district citizens also came to the (second vaccination) train: the nurse Susanne Reichl, 55, for example, or the senior physician at the Dachau Clinic, Alexander von Freyburg, 43. As people who deal with Covid patients in their professional environment they were both convinced of the vaccination from the start.

Freyburg compares the side effects of the corona vaccination with that of a flu vaccination and hopes that as many people as possible will decide in favor of the vaccination in the next few months: "As soon as we have herd immunity, it will help us all!" At the same time, he assumes that will reduce the number of people who refuse to be vaccinated in the coming months, because: “So far, many have simply not been well informed.

My experience is: If you clarify, the number of undecided quickly decreases. "

But despite all the joy about the successful vaccination round - a total of 24 district citizens came to the BRK vaccination center on Rotkreuzplatz - there are still a large number of people who were recently "unhappy", as District Administrator Stefan Löwl had to admit.

Löwl did not want to admit that it might not have gone smoothly when making appointments, that many seniors were overwhelmed with long telephone queues or complicated online registrations.

The situation is new to everyone, "we are also learning," he defended himself.

And anyway, what was the alternative?

“That we don't give any appointments until the beginning of February?” That is not the approach he wants, because “1500 people are already vaccinated and happy”!

Side effects?

None!

BRK district leader Paul Polyfka also asked for patience.

In the past three days, over 6000 calls had been received in the BRK vaccination center, "we are unable to process that".

In view of the fact that the few vaccination appointments available up to now were already taken within minutes, he can almost understand the desperation of some seniors: “Some of them were at our door and asked if we could help them because they do not have their own e-mail address for online registration and they could not get through on the phone. "

While member of the state parliament, Bernhard Seidenath, described the vaccination as "the greatest benefit we have ever had", there is still a lack of vaccine supply.

Therefore, no new appointments can be made next week.

But from mid-February, according to District Administrator Löwl, things should really get going - with 1000 vaccinations per week.
