The activities of the second day of the Spring of Childhood Festival held by the Directorate of Culture in Homs during the mid-term holiday included a reading session and interactive activities for children in the children and adolescents section of the district.

On the day’s activities that were held in cooperation with the Friends of the Book Forum and the Spring Publishing House, Hala Ibrahim, one of the founders of the Friends of the Book Forum, explained to SANA in a statement to SANA that it targets children from 5 to 12 years old as they are classified according to their age group, indicating that reading sessions are continuing during the festival and are part of an initiative Let's Read Together, which was launched by the forum last year and includes interactive activities in addition to reading, such as drawing, chess and children's theater.

According to Ibrahim, the reading sessions at the festival are based on forming and discussing reading sessions for international stories and publications of the Ministry of Culture, encouraging children to write similar stories or presenting drawings suggestive of specific stories or representing the characters of the story.

Saba Wassouf, Head of the Children and Adolescents Department of the Homs Culture Directorate, indicated that these sessions contribute to devoting the love of reading and books away from electronic screens and the Internet so that they can discover the world, refine their life experiences, and improve their expressive styles.

Children Yahya Salman, Salwa Yassin, and Habib Azar extract useful lessons from their reading of the story of the Goat and the Sheep, and confirmed their persistence in attending the reading sessions because of its positive impact on increasing their knowledge experience and achieving fun, entertainment and benefit simultaneously.

Today's activities were concluded with the screening of the cartoon Shaun the Sheep at the Cultural Palace.
