This morning in Rosarno, Polistena and Anoia and in the provinces of Messina, Vibo Valentia, Salerno, Matera, Brindisi, Taranto, Alessandria and Pavia, the carabinieri of the provincial command of Reggio Calabria, at the conclusion of investigations coordinated by the DDA in the context of operation called "Faust", have implemented a precautionary custody order, issued by the investigating judge, against 49 people.
The charges against them are of mafia-type association, political-mafia electoral exchange, drug trafficking, illegal possession of weapons, attempted murder, usury and non-compliance with the sentence.
The mayor of Rosarno Giuseppe Idà, elected in 2016 at the head of a civic list, is among those arrested in the "Faust" operation conducted this morning by the carabinieri. Idà was placed under house arrest. The same measure was adopted against a municipal councilor, Domenico Scriva. Both are accused of political-mafia electoral swaps. The operation, according to the investigators, made it possible to ascertain the rooted and current operation of the Pisano clan, known as the devils of Rosarno, as well as, in a context that reveals joint interests of associations operating in the Tyrrhenian District, the current pervasiveness of the an articulation called the company of Polistena, historically headed by members of the “Longo” family, and also by the local 'Ndrangheta in Anoia. According to the accusation, the Pisano clan would have provided electoral support to Idà and Scriva during the 2016 municipal elections, in exchange for the promise of positions in the municipal organization chart to trusted men of the criminal gang.
