On August 10 of the previous year, demonstrators gathered in various districts. Among them, the demonstrators in Hung Hom had not dispersed until the early hours of the morning. The police later arrested many people.

Among them, 3 men and 1 woman were charged with a total of 5 crimes of illegal assembly. They denied the charges. The case opened in the District Court today (18th). The defendant kicked the policeman several times when he was subdued.

Judge Chen Guangchi also specifically stated before the trial that no one is allowed to display tools with political statements during the trial.

The four defendants are 25-year-old security guard Zhang Handong, 22-year-old audio technician Yao Zihao, 15-year-old girl and 19-year-old student Tang Jianlong.

The judge stated that no noise is allowed before the trial

They denied one count of illegal assembly and charged that they had participated in an illegal assembly in the vicinity of Hung Hom Road, Tak On Street and Tak Man Street on August 11, 2019.

In addition, Zhang was also charged with possession of explosives, a mixture containing potassium chlorate and ammonium chloride, assaulting Police Constable Lu Zhenye, and possessing a catapult with marbles, a knife and a hammer and other offensive weapons.

Yao Zihao was charged with possession of a projector and a laser pointer.

Before the trial, the judge stated that it would not allow anyone to display tools and documents of any political statements during the trial, nor was it allowed to make noise.

The prosecution said the demonstrators fought guerrillas that day

The prosecution read out the opening statement, referring to the demonstrators gathering and blocking roads in multiple districts by means of guerrilla on August 10, 2019.

At 11:50 pm on the same day, about 50 demonstrators assembled in Hung Hom and blocked Hung Hom Road, Tak On Street and Tak Man Street with road signs and other debris.

Police officers arrived at the scene in the early hours of the 11th. Someone shot a police officer in a police car with a laser pointer. A police officer driving a car felt unwell after being exposed.

Male demonstrators kicked police officers many times

The police asked the demonstrators to disperse but failed. They dispersed. The demonstrators, including the four defendants, fled towards Exit A of Whampoa Station of the MTR.

Senior Inspector Chen Xiaochi confessed in his testimony that he was chasing a man and a woman demonstrators at the time, during which the female demonstrators did not resist and sat down.

But the male demonstrators resisted, and Chen and each other fell down the stairs.

After that, three police officers came to assist.

The male demonstrator kicked one of the police officers several times and called it "dead open", but was eventually subdued.

First defendant found hammer and smoke bomb

The prosecution plan continued that Police Constable Lu Zhenye was kicked on the head by the first defendant and bleeding on his lips.

In addition, during the entanglement of the first defendant, a hammer fell out of his pocket.

The police officer later found knives and marbles in his pocket, and 7 smoke bombs in his backpack.

The defendant fought fiercely when he was subdued

The second defendant, dressed in black and wearing a gas mask, resisted fiercely when pursued by police officers and was eventually subdued.

The officer found a laser pointer in his back pocket and a projector in his waist bag.

The fourth defendant wrapped his face in a shirt

In addition, off-duty senior inspector Wang Weitang passed through Min Zhao Street. The fourth defendant, wearing a black jacket and black armor vest, wrapped his face with a shirt, only his eyes were exposed.

Suspecting that the fourth defendant participated in the illegal assembly, Wang Sui subdued the fourth defendant.
