To put the further use of the allotment garden “Breitfilz” on a legally secure foundation: The city of Penzberg has been busy with this for months.

An important step is a development plan.

The building committee will now discuss the main features of this planning in its meeting on Tuesday.

- For over two and a half years there has been a ban on use of the "Breitfilz" system.

That means: Until the use of the allotment garden is on a legally secure basis, the plots cannot officially be used.

First of all, the already existing fire protection concept and secondly the association “Freizeitgärten Breitfilz” founded in November of last year are necessary.

The third pillar is a development plan.

"The year 2021 promises to be exciting," says Paul Hattemer, the chairman of the association.

Over the turn of the year planning offices and the city administration worked on the final version of the development plan with the support of his association.

It was important to reconcile the requirements for public safety and order, for biodiversity as well as for landscape maintenance and building law.

"The aim is mutually agreed to secure the exceptional character of the Breitfiliz leisure gardens in the long term," emphasizes Hattemer and hopes that the building committee will now approve the development plan for the process.

Then the so-called carriers of public concerns - such as authorities and professional associations - could submit their comments.

The suggestions received as well as possible criticism would then have to be weighed up by the city council.

"We hope that the development plan will become legally binding towards the end of the year," said Hattemer.

The general lease agreement between his association and the city could also be concluded by the middle of the year.

“That's what we're aiming for,” says Hattemer.

Because, unlike before, the city no longer wants to give the plots to individual tenants.

This task is to be taken over by the new association in the future.

"The association can only become active with the lease," says Hattemer, referring to the fact that he leases the parcels and accepts association members.

Since new escape routes would have to be created or existing ones widened parallel to the development plan procedure - Hattemer hopes to do so by the end of the year - he cannot yet say exactly how many parcels there will be in the future.

But he reckons with 270 to 300, although their size will be limited to a maximum of 500 square meters per plot in the future.

A suitable extinguishing water supply still has to be found and installed.

In addition, the plots need to be renumbered so that the fire brigade can find their place of work in the event of a fire.

The numbering, "that used to be a lot of mess".

As an important part of the fire protection measures, the Penzberg fire brigade now has an all-terrain small fire engine that can be used for operations in the leisure garden.

If you want to lease a parcel, you must definitely join the association, says Hattemer.

No members are currently being accepted.

Interested people could get in touch.

There is great potential for old tenants as well as many new interested parties, said Hattemer.

According to him, the goal is that old tenants - if they are interested - get their previous parcels back if possible.

Around a third of the former tenants are no longer interested;

partly for reasons of age.

Hattemer cannot say anything about when the new tenants can take possession of their parcels.

That depends mainly on the progress of the development plan procedure.
