Dutch security forces suppressed a demonstration in the capital, Amsterdam, to protest the strict lockdown measures adopted by the government in an attempt to curb the spread of the Corona epidemic, and arrested dozens.
Dutch website Dutch News reported that police used water cannons and horses to disperse the demonstrators who gathered in Amsterdam's Museum Square and arrested 143 demonstrators.
Thousands of people participated in the demonstration, and many of them raised banners denouncing the policies of the Dutch government and demanding that it ease the restrictions on measures, some of which wrote "Stop the closure."
In response to the police crackdown, some protesters threw stones and fireworks at police officers.
