Fürstenfeldbruck: The gap between desire and reality

Bruck's city marketing should be put on more stable feet.

The coexistence of various actors should become a togetherness.

The city got help from outside for this.

Now the concept is ready.

The traders have to fill it with life.

Fürstenfeldbruck - Empty shops, locked doors at the old town festival, little participation in city campaigns and hardly any response to surveys: there has been a crunch in the Bruck business community in recent years.

A city marketing model is intended to remedy this.

It was inspired by the tradespeople, reports Sabine Wildmann, who heads the project at the city administration.

"So many are doing something, but there is no common thread."

That is why the city council's culture and works committee decided last March to bring the Imakomm marketing office on board - for an outside view that analyzes the current situation and suggests improvements.

A project group, which also included traders, dealt with city marketing in workshops.

Because: "The people of Bruck know best what is good for the people of Bruck," said Imakomm's Peter Markert in the city council.

Are the parking spaces the problem?

The result: the much criticized parking spaces are not the problem.

"There is a lack of communication among each other," explains Wildmann.

“And there is no coordinating body.” The result: Actions such as the Food Truck Festival or Old Town Festival attract many people to Fürstenfeldbruck.

But the surrounding shops are not involved and so do not benefit from the purchasing power of the visitors.

The aim is to ensure that the events are beneficial for everyone.

“To do this, we have to develop a sense of togetherness,” says Wildmann.

A city marketing forum should do this.

A steering committee takes on the overall coordination.

It is also needed to get funding from the government of Upper Bavaria.

Three initiative groups work among them.

One takes care of communication, campaigns and events, a second takes care of design and accessibility - such as traffic management in the city.

The third circle looks after trade and services.

They should all develop specific projects - with the proviso that all businesses benefit from them and co-financing is ensured.

"Quite a few entrepreneurs have registered and want to work," reports Sabine Wildmann.

This includes larger companies such as the Mahavi Group, the trade association, but also individual companies.

"Some already have specific ideas."

Initiative from entrepreneurs

The important thing is that it is not the city that gets something going, but the initiative should come from the entrepreneurs.

This is why the city only has one seat in the steering group. But it can organize a lot more easily in the background.

What is important is the appreciation of one another and doing things together, emphasizes Peter Markert from Imakomm.

The office will accompany the project.

The city council approved the project and approved the cost of 15,000 euros.

Overall, the project costs twice as much, with 60 percent being funded.

"It was a difficult road," said Mayor Erich Raff in the city council.

The city's economic development has done a lot of persuasion.

We are now on the right track.

"We have a lot of people in the city, among whom we can imagine a closer cooperation," said Franz Höfelsauer, trade advisor (CSU) and head of the trade association.

Bruck had to become more attractive, vacancies had to be avoided.

So far, the ideas have been carried down to the traders.

"Now they should come from the midst of the factories."

The one strand that everyone pulls was missing, because there are many committed entrepreneurs, said Philipp Heimerl (SPD), consultant for economic development.

"A good city marketing forum can only be good for the city."

The Schedule

The steering committee will be formed in a digital meeting on January 28th, due to the corona.

The kick-off meetings of the three initiative groups are to follow in February.

Projects are not yet ready for a decision, emphasizes Sabine Wildmann from the city administration.

But they are planning to make up for the “Buy in your city” campaign that was canceled in autumn.

This year will show whether the initiative groups get going.

In December, a balance will be drawn and a decision will be made on how to proceed.

If the project is running, the structures should be consolidated in 2022.

One year later they want to take stock, explains Peter Markert from imakomm.

The academy wants to initially accompany the entrepreneurs from Bruck, but will withdraw from the process in the middle of the year and leave the field to the Bruckers.

Then their commitment is required.
