Reason for joy among the young people from Heilbrunn: They have a place where they can meet.

Bad Heilbrunn

- The Heilbrunn young people wanted a covered meeting place - and now they have it: Every Friday they are allowed to use the Heilbrunn parish home for five hours.

Sabine Maier, who headed the Don Bosco Club in Benediktbeuern for five years and works as the educational manager for the sponsoring association, is responsible for supervision: “I'm delighted,” says the 30-year-old.

"This is a nice new challenge."

A youth club in Heilbrunn is not really a new idea.

A few years ago there was such a room.

The young people managed it themselves, an 18-year-old took over the supervision.

But the young people got older, and the project gradually fell asleep.

"It's about care with educational quality"

Now the young people informed the Heilbrunn street worker Marcus Kolm that they would like to have their own room again.

The group gathered ideas and turned to Kilian Spindler, the youth representative of the local council.

The parish hall quickly became a meeting point.

It was also clear: it doesn't work without supervision.

And so the idea was obvious to contact the Loisachtal sponsoring association for children and youth work.

There the Heilbrunners met open ears.

Maier thinks it makes sense to couple the youth work in Bad Heilbrunn and Benediktbeuern: “Otherwise the supervisor in Heilbrunn would have to work without a team or connection.

That would be a shame if there is already an association that is there for exactly that. ”Last but not least, the association enables sickness and vacation replacements.

Maier emphasizes: "It is not just about supervision by someone, but about supervision with educational quality." The fact that a community in rural areas is willing to pay a specialist is something "very special".

The offer came in handy for Maier himself.

Until 2019 she worked 20 hours a week for the Don Bosco Club, most recently only five hours a week for the sponsoring association.

“I actually wanted something that was in the middle of the time, but there was nothing,” says the 30-year-old.

The five additional hours fit perfectly into your weekly schedule.

Opening times can be adjusted as required

Now everything is in flux.

As soon as Corona allows, the room in the rectory is open every Friday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.

“But there is always the option to adjust the opening times if requirements change,” says Maier.

The aim is, on the one hand, prevention and, on the other hand, to advise the young people on personal development and conflicts.

In addition, if necessary, contact can be made with the parents, "of course partisan for the young people".

Another goal is political youth work: “It's great that you can bring the needs of young people closer to the community.

And that you can convey to young people what political options they have.

It is important to the community that the young people are heard. "
