The Ministry of Health has approved the operation of the rapid laboratories for corona testing for returnees from abroad at Ben Gurion Airport, Transport Minister Miri Regev announced today (Monday). According to her, the charge of the tests and isolation on everyone who has returned from abroad in recent months.

Earlier today, the Knesset's Economics Committee approved the extension of the temporary provisions on restrictions on the operation of airports and flights.

Once every few weeks, the committee convenes, usually in a limited composition, and after reading the regulations, a vote is held and they are extended for another period.

This time, however, in light of the large number of mutation cases that managed to enter Israel and what appears to be one of the great failures in the fight against the virus, the discussion took a turn from the familiar conduct.

The chairman of the committee, Yaakov Margi (Shas), asked to check whether the airport acted in accordance with the approved guidelines and regulations.

A representative of the Ministry of Transport's legal department replied that "an effort has been made for the field to comply with the instructions, but there is difficulty due to the effects of violence."

Margie clarified that "there is a law, if I do not know how to manage the field as stipulated by the legislature - close it."

At the conclusion of the meeting, Chairman Margie invited the Ministries of Transportation and Health to ask to inspect inspectors to enforce the regulations or to send police officers to enforce their existence.

Among other things, due to the fact that until the second closure the tests were a national resource and required the establishment of a private laboratory in the field.

Another reason raised by the Director General of the Ministry of Health was the ban on performing an invasive test without the consent of the subject, in fact it is not possible to force a person to do a corona test (but no other sanctions were enforced - KK).

According to him, the ministry recommended a change in legislation that would allow an invasive examination while charging the subject.

The chairman of the pilots' union, Meidan Bar, said that "even if you approve regulations that will not be enforced - we will sit here for another month.

The Airports Authority does not have the authority to prevent a person from entering - this is the job of a police officer. "According to Prof. Asher Shalmon of the Ministry of Health," These regulations are the least we can do.

"We think that non-essential departures abroad should be reduced, only for urgent economic, health and family needs. Our position is that tests should be done at the entrance to the country."
