Students from the PolyU School of Design and HKBU School of Communication were invited by the Gas Company in September last year to produce four animated short films about the epidemic and gas safety information, and provide students under the age of 10 with home-based learning materials.

Animated short film target audience under 10 years old introduces how to deal with gas leaks
One of the animated short films "Little Pioneer of Gas Safety" tells the protagonist Ming Tsai who suspects a gas leak in his neighbor's home, how to deal with it properly while protecting his personal safety, such as knocking on the door to inform the neighbor, not to press the door clock, or use electronic products.
The short film is about two and a half minutes long. Since the target audience is young, the responsible HKBU student team stated that they paid more attention to the way the message was expressed during design and production to ensure that it would not cause misleading.
For example, Zhu Weixin, a third-year student studying dynamic image design at HKBU, originally conceived that Mingzi and the wizard "Little Fairy" would solve the gas leakage problem, but worried that the children would misunderstand, and arranged Mingzi to ask the security guard for help.
The student team took about two months to produce under the epidemic
Another short film "Puzzle" tells the teacher-student relationship under the epidemic. In the online class environment, the teacher encourages students to draw and put together a picture in front of the screen to thank the medical staff.
The PolyU team in charge expressed the hope that the film will bring positive messages to the public, and that teachers and students can break the "screen" and interact easily in online classes.
Cai Kaiqing, a second-year student of the Bachelor of Arts in Digital Media at PolyU, said that the team spent about two months in making animations and a lot of thought was spent in it. Floor bunk beds, etc., in order to reflect the actual situation.

Li Ruibing, Assistant General Manager of the Gas Company-Corporate Affairs, said that he hopes that the short film will bring out care, environmental protection and common sense of life in a relaxed way, provide resources for home learning, and promote parent-child exchanges.
Li pointed out that the company specially invites college students to design animations so that they can apply their learning skills. Because of the good production experience this time, they are interested in contacting other colleges and universities in the future.
