Unconscious in the meter-deep snow: mountain rescue service has to rescue ski tourers - deployment becomes the greatest challenge

suffered

an acute

internal emergency

at

Wolfskopf

near

Trauchgau

.

In order to

quickly

rush to

the

unconscious man's

help

, an

emergency doctor's helicopter was called

from Reutte.

Due to the thick cloud cover,

however, he was unable to approach

the

accident site

and had to turn away.

dropping

mountain rescue

air rescuer

He fought his way on

skis

through the

fresh snow that

had fallen one meter deep in the night

As the patient's condition continued to deteriorate, the

mountain rescue operations manager

decided

to send

additional personnel to the

accident site

at the

same time

.

With a caterpillar quad and an

all-terrain vehicle

, two teams tried to advance along the forest road on the north side towards the patient.

helicopter

other air rescuers at the

avalanche

situation, which was

locally as the second highest

danger level 4

.

The ground-based emergency services tried

to carry

an Akja to the

summit

of Wolfskopf in order to be able to transport the patient into the valley.

After a 3.5 hour rescue operation on Wolfskopf: ski tourers safely recovered

The patient, who was meanwhile

severely hypothermic

, received

emergency medical

attention and was placed in the vacuum bed.

Thus, on the fifth approach, the emergency doctor and the 48-year-old ski tourer could be picked up and

flown

directly to the

hospital

in Füssen.

The four mountain guards who remained at the site accompanied the three relatives of the

ski tourer

into the valley.

The mission ended after 3.5 hours.

An avalanche hit two ski tourers below the Probstenwand on Saturday.

Fortunately, the two men were not buried, but both suffered injuries.

A 150-meter-wide avalanche also hit Brauneck on Thursday - and buried a touring woman from the district.

With a view to the weather situation, the mountain rescue service is now warning of further departures.
