The winter season forces people to close doors and windows most of the time to keep the rooms warm, especially when there are children or the elderly, but doctors remind the need not to neglect the constant ventilation and exchange of indoor air to reduce the transmission of Corona virus infection, whose fine particles may be suspended in the air.

While the World Health Organization recommends washing hands continuously and leaving a distance with others, considering that the main method for the spread of the Corona virus is respiratory droplets between people who are in close contact with each other and through touching surfaces contaminated with infected spray and then touching the face, but later evidence showed the possibility of transmission through Air in specific places, especially closed, crowded, and poorly ventilated places, where sufferers spend long periods of time with others.

Assistant Director of Damascus Health, a specialist in laboratory medicine, Dr. Ahmed Habas explained in a statement to SANA that the particles released by those infected with the virus accumulate in the air in closed places and be a source of danger, but outside they dissipate quickly, which means that poorly ventilated rooms are high risk areas for infection transmission and high The possibility of infection with the virus.

Dr. Habas indicated that in places where ventilation is weak, there is an increased risk of infection and higher incidence of diseases. Therefore, the World Health Organization recommends, in case of a need for gatherings, to take place in the open air as it is safer.

Habas warned against using air conditioners that recycle air as he draws air from the room and pumps it again, which causes droplets that carry the virus to move around the room, indicating that natural ventilation through opening windows is the best, as fresh air scatters the virus and reduces its concentration.

And about the possibility of killing the virus through hot air, Dr. Habas said that there is still no study to prove this, stressing that good ventilation does not mean neglecting the wearing of the muzzle and achieving spatial separation as much as possible in crowded places.
