Gauthier Borsarello, the Frenchman who will make us want to wear costumes again ... De Fursac

2021-01-19T10:25:36.650Z

This vintage expert, editor-in-chief of "L'Étiquette", has just been appointed artistic director of the specialist in male costume. A change of era.

Gauthier Borsarello is only 32 years old, but already a hell of a CV.

A cellist by training (like his five brothers and sisters, all musicians), the young native of Essonne returns his jacket to pursue a career in fashion.

He did not go to school, has no contact: whatever.

He enters by the back door, and becomes a salesman at the vintage space of Ralph Lauren, boulevard Saint-Germain.

Passionate about army and work clothing since adolescence, he has also built up a collection of more than 2,000 pieces that professionals come to rent or buy in his small Parisian showroom.

In 2016, he launched the Holiday Boileau brand with the artistic director Franck Durand.

Two years later, he was part of the adventure of

L'Étiquette

magazine

(guide to masculine elegance) with journalist Marc Beaugé and opened a second-hand store, Le Vif (Paris 16th).

It is this taste for the history of male clothing and this ability to make it just today, which convinced De Fursac to entrust him with the reins of its creation.

Without forgetting the community of 46,000 faithful, delighted with this return of a BCBG but cool fashion, which follows the French on Instagram and shares his affection for the gentlemen in Loden and the twinks in 501 bare feet in their Weston moccasins.

"

I am delighted to welcome Gauthier Borsarello to the De Fursac teams,"

explains Elina Kousourna, general manager in a press release.

We wish (...) to open a new chapter and make De Fursac an international brand by promoting a French wardrobe with a strong identity.

 "

Gauthier Borsarello's site is well known to purists.

Le Figaro

Gauthier Borsarello gives some leads on his artistic direction: “

I like that De Fursac, founded in 1973 in Paris, whose historic address is rue de Richelieu, is anchored in the Grands Boulevards district and in an era.

It seems important to me to study this story.

The panache, the youth, the eclecticism and the fantasy of the Parisian nights of yesterday will be so many ideas to explore and which I draw on today to project the brand into the future.

"

The arrival of the creative director should allow the brand, owned by SMCP (Sandro Maje Claudie Pierlot) since 2019, to expand internationally.

It will present its first collection for spring-summer 2022.
