Four months after its launch, the Engaged movement, led by Laurent Joffrin, the former director of the daily Liberation, will make public, this Wednesday, January 20, on the engageons-nous.org site, the first conclusions of the 14 working groups. set up in October, on a programmatic platform called “Le Temps des Possibles”.

The goal: to renew the social democracy "of which we have said too much that it was dead", pointed out Laurent Joffrin to justify his initiative and create the conditions for a political alternation on the left from 2022.

Who said that the reformist left had no more ideas?

Nothing is more wrong!

"The time of the possible": it is the platform of the @_Les_engages movement, with 100 first proposals for the renewal of the Republic and the left

There is no question for the latter of supporting a future candidate whoever he may be - even if he is a former President of the Republic like François Hollande, whose proximity some emphasize - and even less to launch himself… On February 7, a A vast meeting on Zoom will bring together representatives of the entire left with former Marchers such as deputies Aurélien Taché or Paula Forteza, left-wing radicals, socialists, with personalities who have distanced themselves from the PS such as Jean-Christophe Cambadélis.

According to our information, three themes frame these first measures which will be followed by new proposals in the coming weeks.

First of all, the institutions.

With the objective: "To make the Republic more popular to fight against populism."

Among the flagship measures: the vote at 16, the organization on the same day of the presidential and legislative elections to avoid "the effects of the breaking wave" of the election of the head of state, the possibility of 12.5% of voters to recall national or local elected representatives in the event of serious ethical breaches, the expansion of the shared initiative referendum (RIP) and the obligation for the President of the Republic to submit an annual report to the Congress followed by a debate.

Reform of the school card and Erasmus Junior

Second round of proposals: a green revival with the rejection of any decrease as a guideline.

On the menu, the maintenance of a nuclear industry but also massive investments in the production of hydrogen and renewable energies.

Another key measure: the establishment of a nation's “well-being budget” incorporating the impact of budgetary choices on health, the environment, education and even the reduction of inequalities into traditional financial indicators.

And, finally, the creation of an individualized carbon account allowing everyone, on a voluntary basis, to measure the carbon footprint of their consumption.

On the social level, the Committed propose to increase to 50% the employee representatives on the boards of directors of companies with more than 250 employees, with parity.

The last chapter of this platform deals with social issues.

Among the proposals, the reform of the school card to fight against discrimination, the creation of a Junior Erasmus for middle and high schools, or the payment to any young person at his 18 years of a capital endowment of 5,000 euros to finance a study project or a professional project.

An arsenal which, according to Laurent Joffrin and the 6,000 members of his movement, would allow the left to bounce back because, for the former journalist, "the left will only be able to win if it is a social democrat".
