The majority, accused of having improperly selected the amendments of the oppositions to the “
separatism
”
bill
in committee, again defended itself on Tuesday, January 19 from any manipulation, sheltering behind the Constitution.

The president of the LREM group in the National Assembly, Christophe Castaner, stressed on
RTL
that the decisions of the special commission chaired by the former minister François de Rugy, were based "
on the Constitution
" and its article 45 which allows to avoid legislative riders that are irrelevant to the text.
According to reports, Castaner underlined during the meeting of LREM deputies, that "
the Constitutional Council regularly reminds us to order on the legislative riders
" and that "
we must not let the controversy arise
".
The rejection of 332 amendments out of 1,878 tabled amendments continues to irritate LFI and LR.
Government and LREM group have "
decided to clean up
" "
everything that encumbers them
" to pass a text "
which does not aim to reinforce the republican principles
", which is however its title, assured the leader of rebels, Jean-Luc Mélenchon saying to expect "
the violence of the remarks that will be made against Muslims
" during the debates.
Of the 106 tabled by LFI deputies, 34 were thus retoque, added Mélenchon.
The inadmissible amendments concerned the possibility of “
republican funerals
” or the organization of national tributes in the Pantheon and not in places of worship.
They also aimed to strengthen the educational and social mix or tax justice, with a view to responding to the problem of "
separatism
" in society, said the rebellious Alexis Corbière, member of the special commission.
The president of the LR group, Damien Abad, once again protested against the number of his rejected amendments (25% out of 626).
"
There are rejected amendments which are at the heart of the matter,
" assured the deputy for Ain, citing the respect for secularism by political parties or radicalization referents in universities.
Abad also questioned Castaner who said that the chairman of the finance committee, LR Eric Woerth, had revoked 120 amendments for financial inadmissibility.

A fake news of the majority
”, judged Woerth which specifies to have rejected 28 amendments in this respect.
The leader of the Agir deputies, Olivier Becht, an ally of the presidential majority, justified the drastic selection of the amendments: "
It is not a catch-all text (...) which aims to mix all the subjects
".
For the PS, Boris Vallaud noted that “
there is the rule and the way to apply it.
But it is not forbidden to be intelligent
”.
Basically, he stressed that the PS deputies would await the evolution of the debates to decide on their vote.
Mélenchon estimated that “
there will be two camps in the room: the electoral anti-Muslims
” and the defenders of “
secularism on the principles of 1905
”, with reference to the law on the separation of churches and state.
His group will not vote on the text as it stands.
