Only so far in 2021, 10 doctors have died in Peru from covid-19.
This was announced this Monday by the country's Medical College (CMP).
"The Peruvian doctors continue to mourn," reported a statement from the organization.
The document indicated that, of the doctors who died in 2021 in Peru, five were from the capital, Lima, and the rest from Chiclayo, Iquitos, Arequipa, Ica and Lima provinces.
Since the start of the pandemic, a total of 266 doctors have died from illnesses related to the coronavirus, the CMP said.

“Currently we have colleagues who due to their condition need to be transferred to the capital.
But unfortunately there are no ICU beds in any hospital.
We ask the Government to worry about our colleagues, since they need us to continue saving lives, "said the national dean of the CPI, Miguel Palacios Celi.
CNN is attempting to communicate with the Peruvian government about the CMP's request, without success so far.

Until this Sunday, Peru registered 1,064,909 cases of covid-19 and 38,871 deaths, according to official data.
